One Text or Call Could Wreck It All.

Distracted driving is a dangerous epidemic on America’s roadways. In 2013, 3,154 were killed in distracted driving crashes.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is leading the effort to stop texting and cell phone use behind the wheel. Since 2009, the DOT has held two national distracted driving summits, banned texting and cell phone use for commercial drivers, encouraged states to adopt tough laws, and launched several campaigns to raise public awareness about the issue. Using a hands-free device improves safety and eliminates distractions associated with cell phone usage while driving. Therefore hardware costs are kept to a minimum—commonly available 2d sensors are all that is required–while providing highly accurate gesture recognition during sunlight and night-time situations (using Infra-Red).

  • Minimal hardware costs (only one 2D image sensor is needed)
  • Real-Time processing on automotive-graded hardware (GPU/DSP/CPU)
  • Reliable in sunlight and low-light conditions
  • Provides 2D scene image for further processing (e.g. driver attention monitor)
